How It Works / FAQ’s

How much ash do you need to make a memorial?

Only a very small amount of ash is required – about quarter of a teaspoon per piece. A little goes a long way and you will be able to clearly see them in the finished piece. The ashes are encased inside solid glass. It is a part of the process that some will be left over.

What do you do with any left over ash?

All unused ash is returned to you, along with your completed Memorial Glass® order, unless you request it not to be returned.

How do I send you the ashes?

Once you have placed your order we will send you a kit which includes a small container for you to put the ashes in.

We ask that you post it back to us via registered mail. When we have made your order we will send it to you along with any unused ashes, also via registered mail.

What is in the kit?

The kit consists of a small container for the ashes, a return address label and a letter with instructions explaining how to post the ashes to us.

Will I be able to see the ashes in the glass?

Yes, the white, bubbly streaks that you see in our photographs are actually ashes encased in glass.

Can I send you all of the ashes if I am not comfortable removing some of them for you?

Yes, we are happy to do that for you. Your funeral director may also be willing to take care of it for you.

Will my Memorial Glass® be gift boxed ?

Yes, every piece is individually gift boxed.

Is there somewhere I can go to see some samples?

Yes, you are welcome to come to our studio. We are open by appointment only. Closed every February. Our address is 16 B Hunter Road, Healesville. Our studio phone number is 03 5962 2211. You can also see samples at any of the funeral homes and crematoriums listed in the links below.

What colours are available?

Please note that as each piece is hand made there are slight variations in colour and size. Due to the differences in screen calibration between various display monitors, the colours you see on your screen may also vary from the actual product. Screen images are intended as a guide only.

Can I have more than one colour put in a Memorial Glass® piece?

Yes, there are two colour combinations that you can choose from for our Galaxy Domes, Spiral Domes, Bubbles Domes, Life Hearts and Comfort Stones. Jewellery is only available in single colours.

Can I see my Memorial Glass® being made?

It is possible to arrange to see the piece being made. We are located in Healesville, Yarra Valley, Victoria. Please contact us to make arrangements.

Can you mix the ashes of more than one person together?

It is possible to mix the ashes together, we are happy to do this for you.

Can you use hair instead of ashes?

Due to the high temperatures we need to work the glass at we can not use hair, it will just burn away.
